The iPhone 13 is being produced in India as part of Apple’s trial production program. It is manufactured at a Foxconn facility in Chennai. Due to the increasing demand for iPhones in India, Apple made this decision. By February 2022, the company hopes to meet both domestic and export demand in India.

Executives at Apple said that producing the iPhone 13 in India would help Apple improve its supply of this model worldwide. About 20-30 percent of the phones made in India are exported. The supply of semiconductor chips had previously been secured by Apple. The global market is still experiencing a shortage of semiconductor chips. To become more productive, Apple needed to expand production in India.
70% of Apple’s smartphones are made in India
In the iPhone 13 series, the best-selling model in the country is the iPhone 13. As of now, the company will not manufacture iPhone 13 pro and iPhone 13 pro max in this country. Low-cost models such as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 contribute the most to Apple’s overall sales in India. At Apple’s Foxconn plant in Chennai, both of these phones are already produced. As well as this, the iPhone SE is assembled at Wistron’s plant in Bangalore. In India, Apple produces 70% of all smartphones.
Production in the country has begun after 3-4 months of launch
According to IDC India Research Director Navkendra Singh, Apple will produce the iPhone locally after the device is launched locally for three months. Towards the end of September, the iPhone 13 was launched in India.
