ISRO successfully launches XPoSat mission to study black holes

ISRO XPoSat Launch: In space, ISRO made history once more. The X-ray Polarimeter Satellite (XPoSat) was successfully launched by ISRO today from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. This satellite‘s launch will provide India with a wealth of crucial space-related information.

This mission’s unique feature is that ISRO will be able to identify X-ray sources originating from orbit thanks to the XPo satellite. The identity of the celestial body from which these X-rays are emanating will also be disclosed. Furthermore, it will support research into the enigmatic realm of “black holes.”

Expo Satellite was launched by ISRO with the dual goals of gathering data on black holes and uncovering X-ray mysteries. The duration of this mission is five years. NASA, the American space agency, completed this work earlier. This investigation was carried out by NASA in December 2021.

HC sentenced Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister to 3 years imprisonment, imposed a fine of Rs 50-50 lakhs

In a case involving disproportionate assets, the Madras High Court on Thursday convicted Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy to three years in prison under the Prevention of Corruption Act. As a result, he lost his position as minister and was banned from serving as an MLA.

Based on the information obtained, P Vishalakshi, K. Ponmudy’s wife, was also given a three-year jail sentence by Judge G Jayachandran. Ponmudy and his spouse were also fined Rs 50 lakh apiece by the judge. The minister and his spouse were already found guilty by the High Court and given a sentence today.

To allow him to file a special leave petition before the Supreme Court, senior counsel NR Elango asked the court to grant him leave and suspend the sentence while speaking on behalf of the offenders. In response, the judge delayed the sentence for 30 days and gave 30 days of leave. The judge declared that he would have to turn himself up to the trial court in Villupuram at the end of the suspension time.
